Music and tacos in the air.....

Well I think it's safe to say our first venture into the music-food-beer trinity was a success.  We had record crowds all weekend, and couldn't be happier with the turnout!  People had happy bellies, happy souls and full hearts.  This is just the beginning!  We can't wait to bring you more Beer Farm events....so many ideas...so little time!  One more baby step toward the goal of becoming a destination venue.....

So what is on the schedule for this week?......what isn't?!

Brewing like a mad woman, since y'all came and drink so much beer!  Next few brews will be a wheat (likely a hefeweizen), and another Abbey.  Thinking seriously about brewing Recovery again...y'all gobbled that up and jumped up and down for more!  There will be a spicy special Cinco de Mayo brew as well...stay tuned!

Blogging...cause yanno....I do that now.  Snort.

Coming on tap this weekend....fresh batch of Heritage, Hard Ginger Ale and Honey Brown. Still plenty of Spring Saison and Fort Smith Porter!

Tapped out....no more PB Toast from this batch--more to come!....There's a little Equinox IPA left....get here Thursday to get yours!

Farming...

Got the potato patch ready for those seed taters set to arrive soon....Got some organic fertilizer on the way from a new supplier....and gigantic rolls of woven plastic ground cover are on the farm ready to (un)roll!  Oh and that organic re-cert app....that is looming somewhere in a stack....I think I will......ooh look, something pretty.....

This year's plots will include heirloom cotton, peanuts, okra (growing the saved seed from last year, including Abigail's Coffee Okra....more about that later--probably a separate post!), potatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, canteloupe, honeydew, black eyed peas, summer squash in all shapes, colors and sizes, winter squash in the same mix and match varieties--the uglier the better!!; a wide variety of beans (green and shelling), 15 or so varieties of heirloom tomatoes and a wide variety of hot and sweet peppers--with an emphasis on hatch style peppers for roasting and what not.  We will attempt a few coddling experiments with some sweet corn....we are bound and determined to make some sweet corn on this farm!!  Of course among all of these plants will be a healthy scattering of zinnia, sunflower, clover, dill, cilantro, and other companion plants. I'm cooking up an idea for a new pumpkin patch too....we will see where that goes!

last year's peppers....this year's dreams....

last year's peppers....this year's dreams....

Maxine's Garden (The garden beside the brewery and our house) will feature its usual array of flowers, herbs and the like....of course the basil garden will return...Going full gallop into a larger hibiscus plot--that hibiscus saison!!--as for our cute little blueberry plants...they are about double in size so far and maybe this year we'll get 12 blueberries instead of 3!  We will add another half dozen or so plants this year....then a whole new patch next year!  Oh the things we can do with all those blueberries.....

Hops are getting their grooming and dressing...hopefully we will produce enough for TWO estate hopped batches this year!! Probably add a few new rhizomes to the hop yard in patches where the plants haven't taken.

Farmers Market....

Our little online market continues...our growers add new items every week!  We had THE most delicious fresh organic asparagus last week from Green Acres Farm in Atkins....y'all are really missing out if you're not taking advantage of this fantastic market!  So convenient too!  www.parisarkansas.locallygrown.net
